Indications

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a serious lung condition that can be due to major injury or infections, where a massive inflammation results in fluid buildup inside the lungs reducing the lung function. The inflammation and reduction of oxygen circulation in the body can lead to organ failure. ARDS is a heterogenous disease with high incidence among intensive care unit patients and with high morbidity and mortality rates.

Every year more than 350 000 patients are diagnosed worldwide. Currently, supportive care is the only option available to improve the patients’ symptoms.

Alzheimer’s disease

Neurodegenerative diseases are a group of diverse conditions that are characterized by dysfunction and ongoing loss of neurons and glial cells in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). The conditions affect memory, thinking and the ability to perform daily activities.

According to the WHO more than 55 million people live with dementia and each year nearly 10 million new cases are diagnosed. Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia and contributes to 60-70% of cases. Currently there is no cure for AD but multiple drugs are under development. StromaBio will target the inflammatory component of the disease.
